Information Providers, Inc. (IPI) is seeking an Underwriting Field Inspector for a flexible, 1099 role. You will perform on-site inspections of properties, document features, take photos, and prepare underwriting surveys from home or field locations. You may travel across a service area and dispatch daily from a home base.

The position emphasizes independence, reliability, and strong communication, with a pay rate of $20–$28 per billable hour and no central office reporting required.

Skills & Qualifications

Successful candidates come from a variety of professional backgrounds. If you have experience working with residential or commercial properties, insurance, construction, or inspections, we'd love to hear from you.

Preferred backgrounds include:

• Insurance inspection or underwriting inspections
• Property appraisal or real estate
• Home inspection services
• Claims adjusting
• Construction or commercial contracting
• Loss control or related field services
• Emergency services or first responder roles

We're also looking for candidates who:

• Are organized and production-focused while managing multiple assignments.
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrate sound judgment, adaptability, and resourceful problem-solving.
• Are comfortable using measuring equipment, smartphones, Microsoft Office, and Windows-based computers.
• Have reliable transportation and are willing to travel throughout the service area.
• Enjoy working both outdoors and from a home office while completing reports and administrative tasks.

WHAT WILL YOU DO AS AN UNDERWRITING FIELD INSPECTOR?

This is a 1099 position with flexible hours. Field Operating Hours: Normal operating hours are from 8:00AM until 8:00PM, or dusk, whichever is earlier, Monday through Saturday. Unless requested by the policyholder or resident no surveys (or phone contact) will be completed after 8:00PM or on Sundays or Holidays. You will d dispatch daily from home with no central office reporting required.

As our Underwriting Field Inspector, you'll conduct on-site inspections of residential and commercial properties, carefully documenting key features and conditions. You'll capture clear photographs, identify potential hazards or underwriting concerns, and gather the critical details needed for accurate evaluations. After completing your visits, you'll compile thorough underwriting survey reports that help guide important risk decisions.

Must have the ability to pass a background check.
