Job summary

Brown & Brown, Inc. is seeking an Underwriting Associate to join our Sparks, MD team working with Oxford Risk Management Group.

You will support underwriting processes for Commercial Casualty and Enterprise Risk Management accounts and coordinate materials for review and binding decisions. The role requires a degree or 1–3 years in Property & Casualty insurance, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 1–3 years of Property & Casualty insurance experience.
• Familiarity with Commercial Auto, CGL, and Excess Liability coverage.
• Ability to review insurance policies, applications, endorsements, exposure information, and loss runs.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and maintain accurate underwriting documentation.
• Customer-service mindset with professional communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn underwriting and policy management systems.

Responsibilities

• Supports Underwriters throughout the new business and renewal processes, including organizing documents and tracking requirements.
• Reviews submissions and coverage to prepare account materials and respond to internal questions.
• Prepares underwriting summaries, worksheets, and exposure analyses for evaluation and decision-making.
• Processes underwriting documents within authority and established procedures.
• Acts as liaison between Underwriters and other departments to address account-related matters.
• Drafts account-related correspondence and communicates with brokers or clients as directed.
