Job summary

Starr Indemnity & Liability Company in Houston, TX, is seeking an underwriting assistant to support the Energy division with risk evaluation, rating and quoting. The role involves data entry into underwriting systems and collaboration with underwriters to prepare quotes, binders and account summaries.

You will demonstrate accuracy, strong typing and proofreading, and excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of related experience.
  • Accuracy and proficiency in typing and proofreading.
  • Excellent organization and time management with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and listening.
  • An independent, detailed self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in risk evaluating, rating and quoting for the GL, Auto, XS and WC lines of business for our Energy division.
  • New and Renewal Account data entry into underwriting systems.
  • Pre-underwrite new business by loss analysis and information gathering including MVRs and D&B reports.
  • Assist Underwriters in renewal preparation including preparing Quotes/ Binders/Account Summaries/Endorsement.
  • Provide interim service on bound accounts and participate in the self-audit process.
  • Respond to brokers’ questions and troubleshoot in a timely fashion.
  • Assist team by providing information/problem solving with accounting, operations TPAs and claim department

Essential Job Functions
