Job summary

Starr Insurance Companies in Houston is seeking an Underwriting Analyst to support the Environmental Underwriting Team. You will work in a fast-paced environment handling account clearance, renewals, documentation, and filing for underwriting staff.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and can communicate clearly with brokers and underwriters. 1-2 years of related insurance experience or internships preferred; proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of related experience preferred (Insurance Internships will be considered)
  • Accuracy and proficiency in typing and proofreading; Excellent organization and time management with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Good communication skills both verbal and listening
  • An independent, detailed self-starter
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Maintain underwriting account clearance system
  • Perform ratings
  • Issue binders/policies/endorsements on behalf of the Environmental underwriting staff
  • Create and maintain underwriting files
  • Collect renewal information and prepare renewal submissions for underwriters
  • Maintain business logs (renewal lists, NB lists etc.) as required
  • Respond to brokers’ questions and troubleshoot in a timely fashion

The Underwriting Analyst will support the Environmental Underwriting Team. Candidates should be organized, disciplined insurance support professionals that can work effectively in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
