Philadelphia Insurance Companies, a member of the Tokio Marine Group, seeks an Underwriter I to join our underwriting team in Harrisburg. The role evaluates property and casualty insurance applications to determine risk and pricing, supporting agents and internal partners.

A typical day includes assessing acceptability, limits and pricing, staying current on product lines, loss trends and market conditions, and building strong agency relationships.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of underwriting experience.
• Agribusiness coverage experience a plus.
• College degree preferred but not required.
• Attention to detail and organized.
• Analytical with a strong sense of urgency.
• Strong people and agency relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in determining acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific risks.
• Maintain familiarity with products, services, priorities and target markets.
• Monitor loss experience and key accounts' trends and factors affecting the line.
• Communicate effectively with underwriting and support areas to meet customer needs.
• May accompany senior underwriter or marketing reps on appointments and industry events.
• Develop and maintain relationships with agency representatives.

We are looking for a Underwriter I to join our Underwriting team!

Summary

Evaluates property & casualty insurance applications to determine the risk involved decides to accept or reject the application; determines appropriate premium.

A typical day will include the following

• Assists in determining the acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific property & casualty insurance risks and associated coverage
• Maintains familiarity with the products, services, priorities and target markets in the property & casualty line of business or insurance segment.
• Maintains familiarity with the loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any major legal or economic factors affecting the property & casualty line of business.
• Communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the property & casualty insurance needs of customers.
• May accompany senior underwriter or marketing representative on appointments in assigned territory and industry events.
• May develop and maintain relationships with agency representatives.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of experience in underwriting
