Job summary

N&S LOCATING SERVICES d.b.a. S&N in Asheville, NC seeks a Locate Technician to accurately identify and mark underground utilities, supporting safe excavation and construction activities.

You will use electronic locating equipment and GPS devices, read maps and blueprints, communicate locations to field teams, maintain detailed records, and follow safety standards. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum 1–2 years of utility locating experience or related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys to identify and mark underground utilities.
• Interpret utility maps and blueprints for accurate locations.
• Communicate locations to construction teams clearly and promptly.
• Maintain detailed records of markings and surveys to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and damage during excavation.
• Respond promptly to emergency locate requests to support urgent needs.
