Vannguard Utility Partners, Inc. is looking for Underground Utility Locators to work outdoors across multiple locations in Colorado. Salary is $22.50 per hour.

The role includes driving from home to job sites, locating underground utilities, and relaying location information to excavation crews. Training is provided in a safety‑driven environment. Ideal candidates will be self‑motivated, safety‑conscious, detail‑oriented, and able to work with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent (Required).
• Driver’s License (Required).
• Ability to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule.
• Subject to Drug‑Free Workplace Program and pre‑employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Drive a company vehicle from home to job sites in response to routine ticket requests and emergencies.
• Locate underground utilities using mapping tools and locating equipment (electric, gas, telephone, etc.).
• Indicate utility locations with paint/flags and communicate info to excavation personnel and authorities.
• Respond to after‑hours emergency call‑outs per rotation schedule.

Our Arvada team is recruiting Underground Utility Locators in your area for a rewarding career. Vannguard is currently seeking new team members with the right attitude in a drug‑free environment as we expand into the I‑70 corridor area. Our Underground Utility Locators are responsible, self‑motivated individuals who enjoy the freedom of working outdoors. We will train the right individual who is committed to safety, comfortable working on their own, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in completing a job well done.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Drive a company vehicle directly from home to job sites in response to routine ticket requests, emergencies, and relocates.
• Utilize provided mapping tools and location information, along with locating equipment, to locate underground utilities including, but not limited to, electric, gas utilities, telephone and other communication lines.
• Indicate utility locations through paint, flags, and communicate other relevant information to excavation personnel or other authorities.
• Respond to after‑hours emergency call‑outs in accordance with the established rotation schedule.

Requirements

• Computer skills
• Valid driver’s license in the state of employment
• Ability to work overtime when duties cannot be performed within a normal work schedule
• Will be subject to Vannguard’s Drug‑Free Workplace Program and complete a pre‑employment drug screening
• Ability to self‑manage and communicate with supervisors and clients in a timely manner

Physical Demands

• Drive 50 to 300+ miles daily as required by the assigned geographic locating area.
• Get in and out of a vehicle 50+ times a day.
• Stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ mile) over uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
• Sit for long periods of time while driving.
• Lift and/or move 50 to 150 pounds.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Education and License

High school or equivalent (Required). Driver’s License (Required).

Work Location: Multiple locations. Military‑experienced candidates are encouraged to apply. Job Type: Full‑time.

Schedule: 10‑hour shift, Monday to Friday, on call, possible overtime. COVID‑19 considerations: Position is outdoors and involves minimal contact and interaction with others.

Experience: 1 year of computer skills or utility locating preferred.
