Job summary

Precision Pipeline Solutions in New Windsor, NY is seeking a Laborer for intensive physical construction work around underground utilities, including trenching, backfilling, and ensuring safety and quality workmanship. The role requires a valid driver’s license, ability to operate construction equipment, and the stamina to work in all weather.

Mon-Fri 6:30 am – 2:30 pm with OT; PPS offers prevailing wage, paid training, medical/dental/vision insurance, a 401k with company match, and time off

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 1 year experience.
• Able to load, carry and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of working in all weather conditions.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Operate construction equipment such as Dump Trucks, Tampers, Generators, Air Compressors.
• Maintain cleanliness of all company vehicles/equipment and check fluids daily.
• Know hazards around natural gas and heavy equipment; follow safety precautions.
• Communicate effectively with foreman and team members to complete tasks.
• Lift/carry materials and use hand/power tools; hand dig with shovel and bars.
• Travel to locations within PPS territory as needed.
• Adhere to Stop Work/Time Out procedures for unsafe conditions.

Job Description

A laborer is required to performIntensive physical construction labor duties such as hand digging while utilizing various tools and methods around all underground utilities for service and main work that is being performed. This will include but not limited to digging trenches and/or ditches, backfill and compacting. As a labor you must be physically capable of performing all work that is assigned to you by the foreman. This also includes having proficient Safety skills, Quality workmanship and a Trustworthy reputation to provide the utmost degree of value in every task that you perform.

Responsibilities

• Operate construction equipment such as, Dump Trucks, Tampers, Generators, Air Compressors etc.


• Must maintain the cleanliness of all company owned and rented vehicles/equipment that you operate is required. In addition, all fluids need to be checked prior to operation and any fitting that requires grease Needs to be checked and/or greased daily.


• Thorough knowledge of the hazards associated with working around natural gas, heavy equipment at/near trenches and all the additional safety precautions.


• Must be willing to listen, learn and communicate effectively with the foreman and other general laborers to complete each given task and overall job successfully.


• Lift/carry materials and performs other duties involving the use of hand and power tools.


• Must be able to hand dig with a shovel and dig bars.


• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.


• The ability to travel to a new location upon request at any time throughout Central Hudson, Orange and Rockland and Pike territories.


• Avoiding the use of a cell phone while working.


• Adhere to the safety standards as defined by Precision Pipeline Solutions, safety standards and procedures.


• Proper utilization of your Stop Work/Time Out Responsibility, this needs to be utilized when there is a change in work conditions that hasn’t been communicated, when equipment is improperly used, or even if there is a lack of knowledge for a task that is being performed.


• Pass all NGA Laborer qualifications that are required to perform each task.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license for at least 1 year.


• Must have the ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle


• High school diploma or equivalent


• Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push and/or pull, twist and make repetitive hand movements. Ability to load, carry, lift, push and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Sitting or standing for prolonged period of time required


• Effective communication skills and ability to speak clearly with team members


• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions


• Ability to act with integrity and respect of personal and public property


• Ability to work in all types of weather
