Job summary

TD&I Cable Maintenance, LLC in the United States is seeking an Equipment Operator proficient in underground utility equipment such as mud vac and mini excavator. You will work with the Foreman to identify hazards and ensure safe excavation in accordance with OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, coordinating with the crew, locating underground utilities, and following DOT/FMCSA guidelines; CDL may be required for larger vehicle operations.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an underground utility operator.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, OSHA, and FMCSA/DOT guidelines.
  • Translate and troubleshoot design prints, locate tickets, and permits.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate and report effectively, problem solving abilities.
  • Good physical condition and stamina.

  • Additionally, if operating commercial vehicle and trailer combinations over 26,000 LBS, drivers are required to have and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement, per FMCSA/DOT guidelines.

Description

The Equipment Operator is proficient in the operations of underground utility equipment (ex. mud vac and/or mini excavator). They must possess excavation knowledge on OSHA regulations and safe excavation practices – benching, shoring, and excavating around live underground utilities. This role works closely with the Foreman on identifying potential hazards in excavation and conducts job site analysis.
