McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. seeks an Underground Utilities Project Superintendent to lead field operations on major civil and underground projects.

You will supervise safety, quality, scheduling, site logistics, and crew coordination, interfacing with project managers, owners, inspectors, and trade partners to deliver work to high standards. Requires 7+ years of underground utility field leadership, experience directing multiple crews and subcontractors, and knowledge of HCSS/Heavy Job,

Qualifications

• 7 years minimum of field leadership experience in underground utility installations.
• Experience directing multiple crews and subcontractors.
• Experience with HCSS/HeavyJob, Procore or Bluebeam is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Assist in implementation of project-specific safety and accident prevention programs and maintain safe work areas through regular job-site inspections
• Lead McCarthy’s Task Hazard Analysis (THA) process and implement all safety and EEO/Affirmative Action programs
• Schedule and manage multiple crews performing various tasks across the project site
• Develop a project site logistics plan
• Comprehend contract drawings/specifications and communicate with owners, inspectors and other trades
• Allocate resources, plan activities, review work and manage consumables/equipment, including compiling a comprehensive bill of materials and coordinating deliveries
• Manage McCarthy’s field personnel to achieve optimum performance
• Review and understand material budgets
• Review and understand equipment budgets
• Monitor project costs and identify areas for improvement
• Provide leadership in quality process
• Provide leadership in the safety and accident prevention programs
• Document daily construction activities
• Coordinate and maintain short term schedules
• Assist Project Engineers in review of Shop Drawing and Submittals
• Assist Estimating in bidding opportunities and Preconstruction services
• Assist in development of detailed CPM Schedule
• Assist in development of Detailed Scope of Work
• Verify that As-Built drawings are kept current
• Assist Project Manager in development of Chart of Accounts

Position Summary

The Underground Utilities Project Superintendent leads field operations for large-scale civil and underground utility projects, overseeing safety, quality, scheduling, site logistics, crew coordination, resource allocation, budgets, and daily construction activities. This role partners closely with project managers, engineers, owners, inspectors, subcontractors, and trade partners to interpret plans and specifications, manage costs and materials, maintain accurate documentation and as-built drawings, and deliver work safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Candidates should bring 7+ years of underground utility field leadership experience, strong knowledge of civil construction practices, and experience directing multiple crews and subcontractors on self-perform projects; experience with HCSS/Heavy Job, Procore, or Bluebeam and a related bachelor’s degree are a plus.

For California locations only, the salary range for this position is: $117,000 – $161,000 depending on location. This does not include a possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
