Job summary

The Greens Creek Mine, operated by Hecla Mining Company, seeks a Production Geologist to collect and interpret geological observations and samples to guide mining and maintain production. The role is based at a remote island near Juneau, with daily boat commutes and underground work throughout the shift.

You’ll participate in level plan design meetings, map and sample ore faces for assays, and closely coordinate with operations and engineering to optimize grade and safety.

Qualifications

• Underground mining environment experience.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to operate in remote, island-based mining settings.

Responsibilities

• Underground observations and sampling to inform grade and safety.
• Lining out headings and communicating with operations and engineering teams.
• Provide geologic perspectives in level plan design meetings.
• Map and sample ore faces for assaying.
• Work independently on a remote island with daily boat commute and rotating shifts.
• Promote and follow safety procedures and inspect equipment/work areas.
