Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a Reliability Engineer to maximize safety, reliability, and performance of underground mining assets near Superior, Arizona. You will apply reliability engineering, asset management, and condition monitoring to reduce risk and improve life-cycle performance.

You will partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and Technical Services to ensure compliance with MSHA regulations and company standards while supporting a safe underground mining operation.

Qualifications

• Commitment to safety
• Degree in mechanical, electrical, mining or related engineering
• Minimum 5 years maintenance, reliability, or asset management experience
• Experience in mining, mineral processing, heavy industry or industrial operations
• Strong understanding of reliability engineering principles, failure analysis, and asset management systems
• Experience with SAP or other CMMS platforms
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Create and manage a reliability program for underground, surface, fixed and mobile assets
• Conduct Asset Criticality Assessments and identify operational risks
• Develop and implement maintenance strategies aligned with business objectives
• Create and oversee asset management plans for new and existing critical assets
• Develop, optimize and improve maintenance tactics using RCM, FMEA, and PMO methodologies
• Conduct critical spare parts analyses and present recommendations to inventory control
• Manage asset lifecycle strategies and replacement forecasts
• Support budgeting and planning for asset end-of-life, replacement, and capex
• Develop and maintain condition monitoring programs for critical assets
• Analyze condition monitoring data including vibration, thermography, lubrication, ultrasonic and electrical testing
• Establish and report key asset health metrics with actionable recommendations
• Lead RCA investigations for significant equipment failures and recurring reliability issues
• Support commissioning, startup, and reliability assurance for new assets and infrastructure
