Compass Minerals, Inc. is seeking an Underground Mining Engineer to join our team. This role supports safe, efficient underground mining operations through involvement in mine planning, design, ventilation, ground control, and infrastructure projects.

This position is ideal for an early-career engineer who wants to develop technical expertise in underground mining while contributing to operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining, Geotechnical, Geology or related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in mining, engineering, geology or related industry.
• Basic knowledge of underground mine planning, design, surveying, ventilation, and production scheduling principles.
• Familiarity with mine planning, CAD, and data visualization software.
• Working knowledge of safety regulations, engineering standards, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development and maintenance of short-term, mid-range, and life-of-mine plans to support production and development objectives.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure successful execution of mine plans.
• Participate in mine design activities, including development and benching layouts, sequencing, pillar design, access planning, and underground infrastructure planning.
• Evaluate geological, geotechnical, equipment, and operational constraints to optimize mine plans and support operational decision-making.
• Utilize mine planning, engineering, and design software to develop layouts, production schedules, and operational plans.
