Job summary

Utility Lines Construction Services, LLC is seeking an Underground Distribution Groundperson in Salisbury, NC as an entry-level position building toward a career in maintaining and repairing underground distribution and transmission systems.

You will perform construction and repair work from ground level, follow safety policies, participate in training, and be eligible for benefits including health, disability, 401(k), holidays, and FR clothing.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Follow directions and work safely and productively.
• Problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
• Identify, operate and service all required tools and equipment (bucket truck, digger derrick, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel).

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized underground line work from ground level per safety standards.
• Problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
• Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment.
• Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Excavate to assist in installing structures or cable as required by contract spec.
• Communicate work details to public and private property owners.
• Participate in regional safety guidelines training and follow safety policies.
• Operate tools such as bucket truck, digger derrick, tensioners, pullers, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel.
• Report potential safety hazards to Foreperson.
• Perform other duties as required by Supervisors.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized underground line workfollowing company established Safety and Health standards from the ground level.
• Ability to problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
• Ensure daily testing and inspection of assigned tools and equipment.
• Maintain company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
• Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cable as required by contract specification.
• Will have contact with public and private property owners to professionally communicate work to be performed.
• Participates in company training of all regional safety guidelines and is required to perform all work by the regional safety policies.
• Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, jack hammer and hand-line etc.).
• All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.
• Reports all potential equipment and crew safety hazards to Foreperson.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to:
  • follow directions, work safely & productively.
  • problem solve with unidentified circumstances on any job.
  • identify, operate and service all required tools and equipment. (i.e., bucket truck, digger derrick truck, tensioners, puller, rollers, hand tamp, chain saw, concrete saw, shovel)

Education & Experience

• Ability to provide proof of work experience, schooling, and other certifications obtained during career.

Pre-Screen

• Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications

• Driver License Required, willingness to obtain a valid CDL within 90 days of employment preferred.

Travel Requirements

• Willing to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
