Wayne Automatic Fire Sprinklers Inc. in Ft. Myers is seeking an Underground Fire Sprinkler Apprentice to support installation, repair, testing, and maintenance of underground fire protection piping.

Under the direction of the Underground Foreman, you will learn trenching, pipe laying, hydrostatic testing, and site restoration, while reading plans and locating utilities. This entry-level role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and professional growth within a family-owned ESOP company.

Qualifications

• Construction experience is preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools.
• Ability to wear required protective equipment and adhere to safety guidelines on job sites.
• Pre-employment drug test, background check, and 10-year employment verification is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation and maintenance of underground fire protection piping.
• Read civil, utility, and fire protection plans; locate underground utilities before excavation.
• Perform trenching, pipe laying, backfilling, compaction, and restoration of work areas.
• Assist with flushing, hydrostatic testing, inspections, and final acceptance of underground fire protection systems.
• Maintain tools and equipment; ensure safe, clean, and orderly work areas.
