Job summary

Cinterra is seeking a UG Operator in Hope Mills, NC to safely operate underground power equipment—including line trucks, bucket trucks, and excavators. The role emphasizes cost-effective operation, preventive maintenance, and participation in on-site safety routines.

Ideal candidates will have a High School diploma (preferred) and a valid Class A CDL, with the ability to perform strenuous labor under varying conditions and coordinate with crew foremen on complex tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Valid Class A CDL license required.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous labor.
• Experience with line work and underground utilities is a plus.
• Must be able to work in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavator and/or backhoe proficiently.
• Set up and operate line truck, bucket truck, or similar equipment.
• Perform site preparation, restoration, and ROW maintenance.
• Maintain equipment with preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Transport equipment to and from job sites and manage yard inventory.
• Lead crew as acting foreman when supervisor is offsite.
• Comply with 811 utility locating requirements and procedures.

Position Summary:

The UG Operator is responsible for all duties associated with and related to the safe, efficient, and cost- effective operation of all UG Power Equipment including but not limited to Line Truck, Squirt Boom, Bucket Truck, Excavator and or backhoe experience preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Must be proficient in operating excavator and or backhoe.
• Must be proficient in setting up and operating line truck, bucket truck, or back yard machines.
• Working knowledge of line work preferred.
• Perform general site preparation, restoration and right of way maintenance duties.
• Develop proficiency in safe operation of all equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment.
• Run power tools.
• Perform hand digging.
• Transport equipment to and from job sites.
• Load and Unload Equipment.
• Maintain material inventory on truck.
• Active leadership skills as lead position while crew foreman is offsite.
• Working knowledge of underground utilities.
• Working knowledge of 811 Requirements and Procedures.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

• High school diploma (preferred).
• Knowledge of Utilities installation techniques and standards (preferred).
• Must have a valid Class A CDL License (required).
• Able to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time.
• Able to perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
• Able to lift, push, pull, carry objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue.
• Able to quickly move arms and legs and have excellent stamina.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).
• Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
• Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Agility and flexibility to navigate construction sites and access work areas, including climbing ladders and scaffolding.
• Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.
• Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
• Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
• Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
