Job summary

Aquila Corporation is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Underground Construction Laborer to support our directional drilling and underground fiber construction crews in Indiana. This hands-on field role requires working outdoors, assisting experienced crew members, operating approved equipment, and helping keep projects moving safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years of construction or similar field experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to meet Company driving requirements.
• Ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding field work.
• Follows safety procedures and team directions.

Responsibilities

• Assist directional drilling and underground construction crews with the installation of duct and fiber optic cable.
• Prepare job sites by removing hazards, cleaning work areas, and supporting site setup and restoration.
• Perform physical construction tasks including digging, trenching, backfilling, filling, and compacting earth.
• Load, unload, organize, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.
• Assist with pulling cable lines and installing fiber-related materials and equipment.
• Assist with traffic control in accordance with Company requirements and applicable local and state guidelines.
• Perform basic daily vehicle and equipment checks, including fluids, cleanliness, and organization.
• Follow supervisor instructions, safety requirements, and jobsite procedures at all times.

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Ability to safely operate manual and mechanical equipment necessary to complete assigned work.

• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a team-focused attitude.
