The 2027 NBA Summer Internship is a 10-week program that runs from June 7 – August 13, 2027. The program gives participants the opportunity to learn about the business of basketball, develop critical career skills, and contribute to meaningful projects across a range of departments in the NBA and its affiliate leagues (WNBA & G League). In addition to on-the-job experience, interns are invited to participate in a broad array of professional development programming as well as community and social experiences. The program prioritizes rising seniors, with limited exceptions for graduate students, based on business need. Interns should reflect excellent academic standing and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, we look for candidates who possess leadership skills as demonstrated through relevant extracurricular or community activities. More information on the Summer Internship program experience can be found here.
Selected interns will support the league’s internal and external technology working on reporting, analysis, testing, coding, incident review, troubleshooting, and technical support, across a range of technology products, applications, and operations. Past interns have been placed in range of departments including: Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), which is centered around creating best-in-class digital and broadcast experiences for NBA fans. This includes our direct-to-consumer product offerings (such as the NBA App), various digital subscriber acquisition strategies including NBA ID (a membership program to reward fans), and the technology that powers digital operations and live game broadcast distribution (such as the Replay Center technology). Information Technology (IT), which builds and runs the systems and infrastructure behind the NBA's operations, from league headquarters to office around the globe, our data centers and multi-cloud footprint, and the court-side technology deployed across our arenas. We work across business units, helping each department/region get the most from its technology investments. We provide modern tools that make it easier to work and collaborate with co-workers, teams and partners. IT supports NBA and affiliate leagues, NBA teams and their arenas with the technology used during games. At the league's biggest events, including All-Star, the Finals and the Draft, we provide the infrastructure and on-site support that thousands of employees, marketing partners, broadcasters and media members rely on. Media Operations & Technology, which powers the technology, platforms, and operations that bring NBA content and experiences to fans around the world. The department supports the production, distribution, management, and delivery of live games, highlights, studio programming, digital content, and media assets, while also overseeing critical services including NBA TV operations, replay technology, arena connectivity, global media workflows, and core basketball technology systems that support league operations. These roles require interns to demonstrate a foundational mastery of AI technologies in driving project execution and achieving business objectives.
