The Tsotakos Lab at Penn State Harrisburg is seeking up to two undergraduate students for research positions to begin immediately. Work involves analyzing big genomic and EHR data from the All Of Us database to study social and genetic determinants of CKD progression. You will report progress to Dr.

Tsotakos and may pursue student-initiated projects. Responsibilities include general lab maintenance, preparing materials, cell culture maintenance, running standard Biochemistry and Molecular

Qualifications

• Typically require successful completion of BIOL 230W, Molecules and Cells.
• Preferred qualifications include BIOL 322, Genetic Analysis, or other related 400-level classes.
• Competency in Bioinformatics skills, including GWAS analysis and working knowledge of Python and/or R.
• Attention to detail and detailed recordkeeping are highly valued.

Responsibilities

• General lab maintenance.
• Preparation of materials for experiments.
• Maintenance of mammalian cell culture.
• Implementation of routine Biochemistry and Molecular Biology experiments, such as Western blotting, molecular cloning, and qPCR.
• Data analysis.
