Job summary

The University of Oklahoma's School of Biological Sciences is seeking an Undergraduate Research Assistant to support spinal cord control of leg movements. You will primarily assist with animal surgeries under supervision, with emphasis on careful handling and data collection.

No experience is required, but excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are essential. The role requires current enrollment in Fall term and supports a flexible on-campus schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in Fall Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma.
• Some university-level Biology coursework preferred.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills are necessary.
• Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Responsibilities

• Animal surgeries: anesthetizing the animal, exposing the spinal cord, and separating nerves from other tissues without damage.
• Cleaning and organization of the laboratory
• Operation of autoclave, making solutions as needed
• Other duties as assigned
