Job summary

SEGULA Technologies is seeking an Underbody Zone Lead Engineer in Michigan to design and develop new vehicles, meeting regulatory targets and customer benchmarks, while guiding architecture, content packaging, and early systems integration toward production. Requirements: B.S.

in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program and 5+ years in vehicle engineering (BIW, powertrain, engine, or chassis). Proficiency with Teamcenter, NX CAD, and Vis Mockup is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from ABET-accredited program
  • 5+ years vehicle engineering experience in BIW, powertrain adaptations, engine systems, or chassis systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Teamcenter, NX CAD, and Vis Mockup with ability to develop CAD data structures, position/manipulate models, create alternative designs, and support reviews
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Job description

The Underbody Zone Lead Engineer is responsible for designing and developing new vehicles that meet future regulatory requirements as well as customer and competitive targets. This group manages vehicle architecture, content packaging and integration, and initial systems and component engineering design. In addition, the team resolves packaging and adaptation issues as the vehicle timeline advances toward production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish physical and functional integration of vehicle systems and components during the program planning phase (concept to program approval).
  • Translate strategic and functional objectives into concrete technical requirements.
  • Create and analyze alternative design concepts, while packaging and integrating systems and components.
  • Benchmark competitive vehicles to ensure market‑leading design solutions.
  • Lead an extended, global cross‑functional team to balance all requirements and achieve the most optimal engineering solution.
  • Present design concepts and engineering solutions clearly to higher levels of management.
Basic Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent program from an ABET‑accredited institution.
  • Experience: 5+ years of vehicle engineering experience in one or more of the following areas: Body‑in‑White (BIW), Powertrain Adaptations, Engine Systems (Cooling, Fuel, Exhaust), or Chassis Systems.
  • Software Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Teamcenter, NX CAD Software, and Vis Mockup with a demonstrated ability to:
    • Develop new corporate preproduction structures and manage production CAD data structures.
    • Position and manipulate models, cut sections, and analyze existing designs.
    • Create alternative designs and seamlessly integrate systems and components.
    • Build specialized CAD sessions to support high‑level and detailed management reviews.
  • Professional Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills to lead, coordinate, and resolve complex issues across multiple global regions.
    • Able to effectively operate independently and collaborate within a cross‑functional team environment.
    • Strong Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills.
    • Results‑driven mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Master of Science degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
  • Domain Knowledge: Broad, holistic vehicle knowledge and the ability to integrate diverse stakeholder requirements into a cohesive final vehicle design.
  • Leadership & Influence:
    • Excellent relationship‑building and communication skills.
    • Proven ability to productively manage change and navigate shifting priorities.
    • Strong presence and ability to present ideas and concepts successfully to all levels of management.
    • Expert‑level MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
