Job summary

Security Engineers, Inc. is seeking an Unarmed Security Officer for the 1st shift in Chattanooga, TN. The role involves patrolling, access control, and responding to alarms while maintaining logs and ensuring safety.

Schedule is Thursday–Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits. Minimum qualifications include a valid state security license, a valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR, and being at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Patrol & surveillance: conducts walking and vehicle patrols, monitors access points, verifies IDs and credentials, reports safety concerns.
• Incident response & reporting: responds to alarms and emergencies, maintains logs, performs routine security tasks.
• Customer service & policy enforcement: assists visitors and employees, enforces site-specific post orders and policies.

Role:

Security Engineers is seeking dedicated Unarmed Patrol Security Officers to help maintain safe and secure environments for our clients. Officers play a vital role in deterring incidents through visibility, vigilance, and proactive engagement. Responsibilities include patrolling, monitoring access points, verifying identification, responding to alarms/emergencies, and maintaining detailed logs. This role requires professionalism, strong observational skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must have or be able to obtain a valid State Security License
• Valid driver’s license and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets company approved driver standards
• Must be at least 18 years old

Duties & Responsibilities

Patrol & Surveillance

• Conduct walking and vehicle patrols to identify and report safety concerns
• Monitor access points; verify IDs and credentials
• Monitor surveillance systems for threats or suspicious activity

Incident Response & Reporting

• Respond to alarms, emergencies, and incidents per protocol
• Maintain accurate logs of activities and incidents
• Perform routine security tasks (e.g., locking/unlocking doors)

Customer Service & Policy Enforcement

• Assist visitors and employees professionally
• Enforce site-specific Post Orders and security protocols
• Ensure compliance with SEI and client policies (e.g., smoking, loitering, parking)

Required Skills & Abilities

Minimum

• Ability to perform in fast-paced, high-pressure environments
• Weekend availability
• Strong situational awareness and problem-solving skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective in critical situations
• Basic computer skills; ability to use tablets for reporting

Preferred

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite

Minimum Physical Requirements With or Without reasonable accommodation (subject to change based on client-specific needs)

• Stand/sit for at least 1 hour without break
• Walk a minimum of ½ mile without stopping
• Climb at least 20 commercial facility stairs without stopping

Education & Experience

Minimum

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred

• 1+ years verifiable Military, Law Enforcement or Security Experience
• 2+ years of verifiable customer service experience
