Qualifications

Responsibilities

Position Details

Officers will provide security coverage at a variety of client locations, including shopping centers, retail establishments, commercial buildings, and other designated properties.
Assignments are determined by client requirements and operational coverage. Officers may work at different sites, so dependable transportation and the ability to adapt to site-specific instructions are important.

Key Duties

As an officer, you will help protect property, identify potential risks, and support a professional environment for employees, customers, and visitors.

• Maintain an active, visible presence to help prevent theft, vandalism, trespassing, and unauthorized entry.

• Perform regular patrols of assigned buildings, exterior grounds, and parking areas.

• Observe access points and follow site procedures for monitoring entrances, exits, and restricted areas.

• Welcome visitors and assist customers, employees, and other members of the public in a courteous manner.

• Recognize suspicious activity, unsafe conditions, and potential security breaches, reporting concerns promptly.

• Respond appropriately to disturbances and emergencies while following established response procedures.

• Keep site management informed of relevant incidents and contact emergency services when warranted.

• Prepare accurate shift records, daily activity reports, and incident documentation.

• Comply with company policies, client instructions, and applicable security regulations.

Required Qualifications

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and awareness of their surroundings.

Applicants must:

• Hold the appropriate Maryland security guard certification or qualify to obtain it through our licensed agency in accordance with Maryland State Police requirements.

• Meet Maryland's minimum age and eligibility standards for security work.

• Pass the required criminal background check.

• Have reliable transportation to reach assigned locations throughout Hyattsville and the surrounding service area.

• Communicate clearly and interact professionally with the public.

• Be physically able to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Maintain punctual attendance and a professional appearance.

Experience in security, retail loss prevention, customer service, or similar work is an advantage, but previous security employment is not mandatory.

Uniform and Equipment Standards

Shift Availability

Assignments may involve daytime, evening, or overnight work, along with weekend and holiday coverage.
