Job summary

The Unarmed Security Guard position at the Fairbanks VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Fairbanks, Alaska, is a full-time, on-site role. You will provide Monday–Friday coverage from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, excluding Federal holidays, ensuring continuous guard presence during all service hours.

Responsibilities include patrols, access control at the main entrance, rapid response to incidents with de-escalation, and coordination with VA personnel, emergency services, and local law

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of security guard experience.
• Alaska security guard licensing requirements must be met.
• Must be at least 21 years old and clear background investigations, drug screening, and VA access requirements.
• Strong communication, conflict-resolution, and de-escalation abilities.
• Physically capable of interior and exterior patrols and responding to security incidents.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a minimum of 8 interior and 4 exterior patrols per day, including required closing patrols.
• Monitor the main entrance/security post, provide access control, and maintain awareness of activities throughout the facility.
• Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, and requests for assistance using de-escalation procedures.
• Coordinate with VA personnel, emergency services, and local law enforcement; maintain security logs and incident documentation.

Schedule:

The Unarmed Security Guard will provide on-site coverage Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, excluding Federal holidays. Continuous guard coverage must be maintained throughout all required service hours.

The Unarmed Security Guard will provide professional security, patrol, access-control, and emergency-response support at the Fairbanks VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Fairbanks, Alaska, while maintaining a safe environment for Veterans, staff, visitors, and Government property.

Requirements:

• Must have at least one year of security guard experience and meet applicable Alaska security guard licensing requirements.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and successfully satisfy required background investigations, drug screening, and VA access requirements.
• Must demonstrate strong communication, conflict-resolution, de-escalation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be physically capable of conducting regular interior and exterior foot patrols and responding promptly to security incidents.

Duties:

• Conduct a minimum of 8 interior and 4 exterior foot patrols each day, including required closing patrols.
