Job summary

DM Burr Security is seeking a full-time unarmed Security Floater to cover Genesee County schools and facilities. You will patrol grounds, monitor systems, control access, and respond to emergencies while maintaining a visible professional security presence.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and strong communication skills; prior security or law-enforcement experience is preferred. A $18.00/hour wage and a $200 signing bonus after 90 days are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred, especially in educational settings.
• Excellent communication, observation and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
• Understanding of child/adolescent behavior and ability to build rapport with students.
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screening and any required evaluations.
• Physically capable of standing or walking for extended periods and responding quickly to emergencies.
• Flexible availability including mornings, afternoons, evenings and special events.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Patrol school grounds, buildings, parking lots and perimeters to deter and detect unauthorized activity.
• Monitor security systems, alarms and surveillance cameras to ensure campus safety.
• Control access to school facilities by verifying visitor, contractor and staff identifications.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, alarms, disturbances and medical incidents.
• Enforce school policies and regulations fairly and consistently.
• Provide a visible, professional security presence to deter violence or disruptions.
• Assist in crisis management, lockdowns and emergency drills.
• Build positive relationships with students and staff to promote trust.
• Complete detailed incident and daily activity reports.
• Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
• Attend required training including de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
