Job summary

Howard University Hospital is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to join the Radiology department in Washington, DC. The role focuses on directing ultrasound to obtain high-quality images, while providing direct patient care and ensuring safety and accuracy in documentation for physician diagnoses.

The candidate will perform quality control, prepare rooms, manage equipment, and participate in safety and infection control standards.

Qualifications

• ARDMS and BLS certification required. Certification in General, Vascular and OBGYN desired.
• Two (2) years' experience in Ultrasound desired.

Responsibilities

• Uses ultrasound equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves to a prescribed area of the patient's body and capture quality images.
• Provides direct patient care, including assessing patient condition and ability to cooperate. Positions patients and equipment and prepares patients for procedures.
• Summarizes, documents, verifies and presents images, findings, calculations and measurements to physicians for diagnoses.
• Prepares rooms and patients for subsequent ultrasound procedures.
• Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure uninterrupted services.
• Participates in quality improvement activities to ensure continuous improvement of services and safety standards.
• Adheres to departmental policies and protocols for effective operations and quality patient care.
• Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements and notifies personnel to maintain equipment performance.
• Assumes other duties related to the position as needed.
