Job summary

Baptist Health in Lexington, KY seeks an Ultrasound Technologist (PRN) for first shift. You will perform ultrasound examinations, coordinate patient flow, and ensure high-quality images for radiologists.

You’ll supervise students, support staff, and help with equipment and protocol improvements. ARDMS certification or eligibility is required, with certifications in Abdomen and OB-Gyn expected within one year of hire.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Sonography from an accredited program.
  • Satisfactory completion of an accredited education program in sonography or equivalent.
  • Current ARDMS certification or eligibility.
  • Must obtain ARDMS Abdomen and OB-Gyn within one year of hire.
  • CPR for Healthcare Providers.
  • BLS within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain professional relationships with coworkers and patients.
  • Produce quality images for Radiologist review.
  • Verify patient data and order accuracy.
  • Assist Radiologist and coordinate patient exams.
  • Supervise ultrasound students during clinical rotations.
  • Participate in training new staff.

The Ultrasound team at Baptist Health works together to provide the highest level of care for every patient. Our staff includes fellowship-trained radiologists, radiologic technologists, sonographers and nuclear medicine technologists. From helping you prepare for your tests to listening carefully to your questions and clearly explaining everything you need to know, you’ll appreciate our careful attention and support.

Description:

  • Maintains a cohesive working relationship and spirit of cooperation with coworkers, other employees and related individuals.
  • Sets a positive example for staff through professional knowledge, appearance, personal conduct and interactions
  • Maintains a professional working environment and follows all hospital policies and guideline recommendations.
  • Follow and implement hospital policies and guideline recommendations.
  • Proactively plans and executes daily patient flow and staff schedule.
  • Provides supervision and instruction to ultrasound students on site for clinical rotation.
  • Actively participates in training new employees in equipment functionality, exam protocols and modifications.
  • Produce quality images for Radiologist's review with correct interpretation.
  • Prepares copy of images and records image release in electronic health record.
  • Verifies images archived to PACS and notifies PACS administrator of any issues.
  • Send images to tele-radiology service after hours as instructed.
  • Participates in image Peer Review with US Coordinator.
  • Works with US Coordinator and Radiologist on ACR accreditation as needed.
  • Assists US Coordinator, Radiology Manager, and Radiology Director in equipment and software selections.
  • Verifies orders, verifies patient name/birth date and history.
  • Documents of all incidents related to patient care on electronic health records (example-incident reports, medications given, etc.)
  • Performs and documents time out procedure for invasive procedures.
  • Follow department protocol for all exams.
  • Provides initial interpretation for exams by department protocol.
  • Works with transport and nursing units to coordinate patient exams.
  • Continuously monitors the patient throughout the exam.
  • Assist Radiologist and authorize providers with exams/procedures as necessary.

Qualifications** : **

  • Associate degree.
  • Satisfactory completion of an accredited education program in sonography or equivalent.
  • Current certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or eligible.
  • Must obtain ARDMS certification in Abdomen and OB-Gyn. If not certified upon hire, you must obtain certifications within one year of hire.
  • Less than one year.
  • Current CPR for Healthcare Providers.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
