Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist I who can work Weekend Day and/or Weekend Night shifts. The role involves performing routine and specialized ultrasound exams with attention to imaging quality and patient safety.

You will educate patients, document examinations, and coordinate with providers while maintaining a compliant clinical environment and ensuring timely transfer of images to PACS for interpretation.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound program; registry eligible.
• Associate’s degree in health sciences or related field preferred.
• Prior work experience not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams for patients of all ages with accurate imaging and proper protocol.
• Educate and prepare patients, obtain histories, document exams, and coordinate care with providers and families.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant environment with infection prevention, probe disinfection, and regulatory compliance.
• Monitor ultrasound equipment and room supplies, perform QC, report issues, and support operations.
• Contribute to quality improvement, support staff education, and ensure timely image documentation and PACS transfer.

About this Job:

PRN Ultrasound Technologist - Must be able to work Weekend Day shift and/ or Weekend Night Shifts

MedStar Health is looking for a PRN Ultrasound Technologist I. Under general supervision, performs routine and specialized sonographic procedures.

Primary Duties:

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams for patients of all ages, ensuringaccurateimaging, proper equipment selection, patient identification, and adherence to scanning protocols.

• Provide exceptional patient care by educating and preparing patients for procedures, obtaining medical histories, documenting exams, and coordinating care with providers, patients, and families.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant clinical environment by following infection prevention standards, performing probe disinfection, assisting with sterile procedures, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Monitor and maintain ultrasound equipment and exam room supplies, perform quality control, report equipment issues, and support efficient departmental operations.

• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, support staff and student education, uphold professional and ethical standards, and ensuretimelyimage documentation and transfer to PACS for interpretation.

Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited Ultrasound program registry eligible (Required)

• Associate’s degree in health sciences or related field (Preferred)

• Prior Work Experience notrequired

Licenses/Certifications:

• ARDMS- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS or AART (S) Certification within 1 Year of hire. Physics registry completed upon hire(Required)

• Required upon hire for ACR accredited sites (MSMH, MSMHC, MGSH (BR),MMMC, MGUH, MWHC): American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS(AB), (OB/GYN), (PS), (BR) or RVT(VT).Upon Hire (Required)

• BLS- Basic Life Support Certification upon hire(Required)

This position has a hiring range of : USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 /Hr.
