Job summary

Northwell Health in New York is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures at a technical level under physician supervision, and to provide patient explanations.

Responsibilities include operating equipment across vascular, abdominal, small parts, pelvic, obstetric, neonatal, portable, and OR settings, communicating findings to radiologists, and assisting in invasive procedures.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required and completion of an approved ultrasound training program.
  • Current ARDMS registration or must be registered within one year of hire.
  • Experience with Radiology Information System, ultrasound equipment and laser equipment; minimum one year as an ultrasound technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a qualified physician, performs a variety of ultrasound procedures including routine vascular, abdominal/visceral, small parts, pelvic/TV, obstetrical, neonatal, portable and operating room procedures according to established department protocols and procedures.
  • Produces high ultrasound imaging to obtain diagnostic information and provides patient explanations of the procedure.
  • Presents and communicates pertinent case information and clinical images to radiologist.
  • Assists in invasive procedures upon physicians request.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy and corrects errors; ensures proper film identification.
  • Obtains CME credits via journal clubs and other venues.
  • Prepares and cleans the room for patient examinations; participates in orientation and training of technologists in training.
  • Performs related duties, as required.

Job Responsibility

Produces high ultrasound imaging in order to obtain diagnostic information. Provides information and explanation to patient in regard to the procedure.
  • * Presents and communicates pertinent case information and clinical images to radiologist.
  • * Assists in invasive procedures upon physicians request.
  • * Reviews each examination for technical accuracy. Identifies anatomical orientation on all images. Ensures proper identification of films. Corrects errors, as necessary.
  • * Obtains CME credits via journal clubs and other venues.
  • * Prepares and cleans room for patient examinations.
  • * Assists in the orientation and training of technologists in training.
  • Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification
  • High School diploma or GED, required. Completion of approved training program in ultrasound technology, required.
  • Current Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography or must be registered within one (1) year of hire.
  • Experience with Radiology Information System, ultrasound equipment and laser equipment, required. Minimum one (1) year experience as an ultrasound technologist, preferred
