Job summary

Banner Health is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for the OB/GYN clinic in Tucson, AZ. The role requires delivering high-quality obstetric/gynecologic ultrasound examinations and patient education with a compassionate approach.

You will join a team at Banner University Medical Center Tucson, a Level I Trauma Center, supporting maternal fetal medicine services. Minimum 1–2 years of sonography experience is preferred, with ARDMS or CCI certification and BLS.

Qualifications

• Certification in the area of specialty (ARDMS or CCI) is required for this role.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Performs prescribed ultrasound procedures following orders and department policies.
• Educates patients and families about procedures and treatments with professional conduct.
• Produces high quality images and prepares documentation for interpretation.
• Performs equipment QC and troubleshoots to maintain performance.
• Maintains safety and confidentiality; supports efficient department workflow.
• Ensures adequate inventory of supplies to prevent service interruption.

The OBGYN ultrasound department was formed in the late 1970’s to support the MFM department in diagnosis of fetal anomalies and perform research in fetal growth patterns, fetal Doppler studies and fetal echocardiography. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient populationCORE FUNCTIONS1. Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.2. Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients and family members.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRequires national certification in the area of specialty from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or from Cardiovascular Credentialing International. Uncertified new hires who are Registry eligible must obtain certification within 12 months of hire. BLS certification required.This position requires clinical knowledge typically achieved with 1-2 years of experience.
