General Summary of Position

MedStar Health is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to join our team at the MedStar Fetal Assessment Center.

The Ultrasound Technologist will perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations for subsequent evaluation and treatment.

Primary Duties:
  1. Assist physicians in procedures such as needle biopsies, amniocentesis, and renal biopsies. This includes scanning patients, marking the patient's body, determining the angle for puncture, assisting as necessary, and maintaining sterile technique.
  2. Generate computer images or film through automatic processing and evaluate image quality.
  3. Communicate and document patient's clinical information clearly and accurately in verbal and computerized report formats. Maintain records of examination data and other pertinent patient information.
  4. Secure and return supplies such as film, linens, medicine, and patient folders.
  5. Select and operate equipment as directed, choosing proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
Qualifications:
  1. High School Diploma or GED.
  2. At least 2 years of diagnostic or ultrasound experience, or graduation from an accredited Ultrasound program (registry eligible) with certification in Diagnostic Sonography by ARDMS within 1 year.
  3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  4. Preferred: Certification in Diagnostic Sonography by ARDMS within 1 year.

This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $62.52.
