Job Summary:

We offer a $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants. This posting reflects an opening for an Ultrasound Technologist I. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels based on skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Ultrasound Technologists (Sonographers) are responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic imaging procedures, analyzing data for diagnosis, and assisting licensed practitioners. They independently perform or assist with sonographic procedures and prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications according to laws and policies.

Job Duties:
  1. Ensure correct patient identification, proper exam preparation, and confidentiality.
  2. Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, and apply ALARA principles.
  3. Prepare and/or administer medications as prescribed.
  4. Evaluate image quality, verify data storage, and perform post-processing if applicable.
  5. Educate and monitor students and healthcare providers.
  6. Collaborate with licensed practitioners for sonographic procedures.
  7. Ensure equipment parameters are optimal for diagnostic and interventional procedures.
  8. Perform diagnostic and interventional sonographic procedures as prescribed.
  9. Review symptoms and medical history to determine the correct exam.
  10. Evaluate orders to ensure correct scheduling.
  11. Perform noninvasive vascular tests if applicable.
  12. Provide preliminary interpretation of test results, including findings and need for further testing.
Position Details:

Certifications required upon hire include ARRT or ARDMS or CCI certifications. Specific credentials depend on the specialty area. Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps for advancement to level 2 within 24 months.
