Job summary

Lexington Health Northeast Emergency Department in South Carolina seeks an Ultrasound Technologist for the Emergency Department day shift. You will manage ultrasound exams, communicate results, and assist Radiology with procedures in a fast-paced acute care setting.

Minimum qualifications include RDMS certification (or eligibility) and BLS, with RDMS to be obtained within one year. Sign-on bonus up to $15,000 is offered for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

  • RDMS certification or eligibility required; BLS certification within 3 months.
  • No minimum education or experience required.
  • Must obtain RDMS within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sonographic equipment independently and perform examinations.
  • Communicate results to Radiologist and healthcare team.
  • Assist with invasive procedures in the Emergency Department.

Job Summary

Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The sonographer is also responsible for assisting the Radiologist with invasive procedures in the acute care setting.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: None.

Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: BLS certification or certification within 3 months of employment;
Current compliance with Continuing Medical Education (CME) requirements for specialty(ies) as appropriate;
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) - In the absence of an RDMS at hire, the candidate must have an Associate’s Degree in Allied Health or Bachelor's Degree plus successful completion of one year of formal Diagnostic Medical Program and be registry eligible. Must obtain RDMS within one year of employment
Required Training: None.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates competence to provide developmentally appropriate care/treatment and comfort measures while performing Ultrasound examinations for the following patient population: Infant (Birth to 1 year); Child (1 year through 12 years); Adolescent (13 years through 17 years); Adult (18 years to 65 years); Geriatric (over 65 years)
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication of information to all ages and responds to all customers/ patients requests and needs. Provides or obtains appropriate assistance to non- English speaking patients.
  • Assumes responsibility for the safety and well-being of all patients in the sonographicarea/department.
  • Performs sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician following department protocols.
  • Coordinates with other staff to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and health care team, assuring appropriate patient care is provided.
  • Addresses problems of patient care as they arise and makes decisions to appropriately resolve the problems.
