St. Rose Hospital is seeking a Per-Diem Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations with supervision from Radiology leadership in Hayward, CA. You will ensure image quality, maintain patient logs, and adhere to imaging protocols while delivering compassionate care.

Qualifications

  • Current BLS required. ARDMS certification required.
  • Completion of a 24-month Radiologic Technology program or an Associate Degree.
  • Experience in ultrasound preferred; two years on-the-job training suggested.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations of head and body to produce interpretable images.
  • Maintain records and logs detailing examination data and reports sent to physicians.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on ultrasound equipment.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and imaging protocols; ensure patient safety.
  • Assist physicians as directed and provide compassionate patient care.
  • Rotate within the department by shift as required; uphold professional conduct.

Job Summary
Job description/Responsibilities:

Per-Diem All shifts APPROXIMATE PAY RANGE: $74.75 - $94.69 Under the general direction of the Radiologist and supervision of the Manager, Diagnostic of Diagnostic Imaging, performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the head and body at a technical level, which will produce interpretable images by the supervising Radiologist.

  • Knowledgeable of operation unit and scanning of the Ultrasound.
  • Maintains adequate records and completes patient logs detailing date, time and type of examination, and time and date authenticated report was sent to referring physician(s) and inpatient unit(s).
  • Complies with all policy, procedures and protocols of the diagnostic imaging section & the hospital.
  • Scans patients with safety and knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrates a professional, polite, concerned, caring, compassionate and competent demeanor when providing patient care and interacting with co-workers and physicians.
  • Demonstrates competence in the care of pediatric or frail elderly groups of patients (when/if assigned to these patients) relative to determining each patient's age-related and other physical, psycho-social and cultural needs, and carrying out patient care activities.
  • Unfailingly practices institutionally mandated education and patient safety rules, procedures & guidelines.
  • Fully understands how to operate, troubleshoot, correct malfunctions, maintain and perform minor repairs on all of the equipment assigned to the technologist.
  • Understands the function of Hospital MIS System and Diagnostic Imaging Management System.
  • Assists the physician as directed.
  • Administers first aid as required and assists in other emergencies.
  • Maintains adequate records and logs.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness.
  • Maintains a professional and ethical relationship.
  • Rotates within the department by shift if required.
  • Adheres to Ultrasound Imaging procedures and protocols
Other Job-Related Duties
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned by the Director, Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Obtain supplies as needed.
Required Qualification:
  • License/Certification Current BLS required. Current California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) License preferred. Registered Diagnostic medical Sonographers (ARDMS) required. Proof of all required License(s) and Certification(s) due at time of hire.
  • Education Completion of a forma 24-month Radiologic Technology training program or Associates Degree in Radiologic Technology Completion of Ultrasound Technology courses.
  • Experience Minimum two years on the job training and experience in ultrasound preferred.
  • Skills Supervisory capabilities as determined by Manager, Diagnostic Imaging Strong interpersonal, organization, problem solving and communication skills.
  • Physical Requirements The duties as described will require frequent standing and walking. The employee will frequently bend/stoop, squat, reach above the shoulders, twist and turn. Position/push patient's in/on beds. Push portable equipment. Required to lift up to 50 pounds. Hazards Exposure to radiation, works with electrical equipment, and will have close contact with patients and is likely to come in contact with blood and body fluids. Will be fit tested for particulate respirator.
