Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Registered Sonographer to join MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center. The role performs ultrasound scanning procedures, reports preliminary findings to radiologists, and takes anatomical pictures to demonstrate organs. The candidate should be RDMS eligible with 1–2 years of acute care hospital experience.

There is a $10,000 sign-on bonus for a limited time. The position includes on-call responsibilities and adherence to safety protocols within a leading healthcare

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.
• 1–2 years' experience from an acute care hospital.
• RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound exams (abdominal, renal, thyroid, pelvic, obstetrical, vascular, breast, etc.) and reports preliminary findings to radiologist.
• Takes representative anatomical pictures and ensures proper image quality.
• Marks images for proper definition; participates in on-call status as needed.
• Maintains ultrasound rooms and supplies, and ensures department safety and hazard awareness.
• Receives and reviews exam requests and coordinates with radiologists.

MedStar Health is looking for a Registered Sonographer to join our team at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center!

The Registered Sonographer performs ultrasound scanning procedures. Reports preliminary findings and diagnoses to the radiologist. Takes anatomical pictures to demonstrate organs.

Primary Duties:

• Performs exams such as abdominal echoes, renal, aorta, thyroid, pelvic, obstetrical, bio-physical profiles, vascular studies, testicular and breasts. Color flow studies, Doppler studies, renal biopsies, and fluid collections of localized areas.

• Checks all films with radiologist; consults with the radiologist about the reading of scans and reports. Provides written, unofficial reports of examinations. Takes representative anatomical pictures, recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy, and exhibits knowledge of various pathological processes.

• Marks image for proper definition and explanation. Available for on-call status, as needed. Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards.

• Follow the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens. Maintains ultrasound rooms for optimum efficiency: This entails stocking rooms with laundry, aquasonic gel, needles, gloves, and alcohol for assisting the radiologist with procedures.

• Keeps work areas and machines in a proper working order. Receives and reviews exam requests for ultrasound studies.

• Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program.

• 1-2 years' experience from an acute care hospital.

• RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) or eligible.
  

This position has a hiring range of : USD $35.68 - USD $64.71 /Hr.
