Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates schedule flexibility, punctuality, and availability, working well under pressure.
  • Communicates and discusses semi‑complex information; sets priorities; organizes and coordinates multiple tasks.
  • Provides personal care and safe transfers, including use of adaptive equipment such as hoyer lifts and sliding boards.
  • Demonstrates solid interpersonal, customer, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Handles confidential materials, complies with the corporate compliance plan, and participates in hospital performance improvement initiatives.
  • Keeps patients and significant others informed of exam status and follows up on requests for assistance.
  • Performs patient ultrasound services according to department policy, procedures, and regulatory guidance; interprets physician orders accurately; assists in maintenance of patient and department records; and ensures patient safety.
Education

Graduate of an ultrasound technology program desired; current enrollment in such a program is allowed.

Work Experience

One year of experience as a registered sonographer is preferred. Multi‑modality technologist experience is also preferred.

Certification / License

A registered sonographer – ARDMS in OB or ABD, or a currently registered RT(S) by the ARRT is required. Allowances will be made for registry‑eligible individuals who attempt registry within 30 days of hire and pass within 90 days of hire. Alternatively, registered radiography technologists currently registered by the ARRT may be admitted if enrolled in an ultrasound training program. BLS per the American Heart Association is required.

Mental / Physical Requirements

Close mental and visual attention required for sustained periods. Frequently works under stressful conditions due to demands of patients and critical care. Able to transport self throughout the department; standing, walking, sitting, carrying/lifting (up to 35 lbs.), turning, pushing, pulling and stooping are required.

Working Conditions

Potential exposure to infectious diseases, disagreeable odors from patients, anesthetics, disinfectants, and/or chemicals. May be exposed to controlled radiation. Will be subject to on‑call duty on a regular or as‑needed basis and scheduled various shifts and days of the week as necessary to provide services effectively.
