Job summary

CVP (Customer Value Partners) seeks a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography for the VA New Jersey Health Care System, Toms River CBOC. This on-site role supports a Monday–Friday schedule with 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST and involves a broad range of ultrasound studies and patient care.

Requirements include RDMS certification (abdomen/OB-GYN/breast), BLS, 3+ years of ultrasound experience, and eligibility for Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in abdomen, OB/GYN or breast.
  • Minimum of three years ultrasound experience.
  • BLS certification.
  • US Citizenship and eligibility for Public Trust clearance.
  • Knowledge of PACS and medical imaging workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a comprehensive range of ultrasound studies including abdomen, OB/GYN, breast, vascular, and small parts.
  • Prepare patients, provide pre-test education, and explain procedures with reassurance.
  • Conduct quality control to ensure optimal image quality and adjust equipment as needed.
  • Log data into PACS and patient information systems; prepare digital images for radiologist interpretation.
  • Monitor patients during exams and notify the physician of any abnormal changes.
  • Document any delays in CPRS notes and review pending cases daily.
  • Adhere to VA/NJ Health Care System guidelines and facility policies.

Job description

CVP is seeking a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist specializing in Sonography / Ultrasound to join our team in support of the VA New Jersey Health Care System, Toms River CBOC, located at 1051 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ. This is a full-time, on-site position working Monday through Friday, 800 AM to 430 PM EST.

  • Perform a comprehensive range of ultrasound studies including abdomen and retroperitoneum, small parts, gynecology, male pelvis, obstetrics, vascular imaging, breast sonography, and breast biopsies
  • Locate and record internal elements of the body, including blood vessels and organs, using sonographic equipment
  • Prepare patients for sonographic procedures by assessing patient needs, providing pre-test education, explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing reassurance throughout the procedure
  • Perform quality control measures to ensure optimal image quality and adjust equipment and patient positioning as needed
  • Monitor patients for potentially dangerous physical and emotional changes during examinations and immediately notify the physician of any abnormal changes
  • Evaluate test results for clarity and accuracy and take corrective action where appropriate
  • Log data into patient information systems and update file systems for tests performed
  • Prepare digital images for interpretation by the radiologist and transmit electronic images and reports via Picture Archuring and Communication System (PACS)
  • Document any delayed cases in CPRS notes, including the reason for delay and a plan to complete the study
  • Review all pending cases on a daily basis
  • Clean and disinfect equipment and workspace per standard operating procedure
  • Recognize equipment malfunctions and readjust equipment or refer for repair
  • Follow all national and local guidelines, including those of the Veterans Administration National Health Physics Program
  • Adhere to all facility and service-level policies, procedures, infection control policies, and professional standards
  • Demonstrate a high level of mental and emotional tolerance when dealing with patients, families, and co-workers, using tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and professional attitudes
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Public Trust government security clearance; US Citizenship is required
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certificate from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in abdomen, OB/GYN, and/or breast, depending on services provided
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certificate from the ARDMS preferred for candidates with vascular sonography responsibilities
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience performing ultrasound studies
  • Experience with Phillips EPIQ 7 and/or Hologic Siemens equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS)
  • Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English fluently

Shift
  • Monday through Friday, 800 AM - 430 PM.
Pay Rate
  • Hourly Pay $55.00/hr.
  • Health & Wellness (H&W) $5.09/hr (H&W will be prorated based on enrollment in the benefits offered, including automatic enrollment in employer-paid plans).
