Banner Lassen Medical Center offers a wide range of programs and services to aid in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness. This is a PRN Acute Ultrasound Tech position available for a competent and independent Sonographer. Our Sonographer will work with the imaging department as part of the team with patient centered expectations. This is a PRN, as needed position, working to cover shifts for sick time and PTO.

Located in Susanville in northeast California, Banner Lassen Medical Center offers comprehensive care in a state-of-the-art facility to aid in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses. Our 25-bed medical center has a proud history of providing vital caring to the community since 1883. Though we are a small community hospital, we have invested in the latest medical equipment, including a 124-slice CT scanner, nuclear medicine, MRI, ultrasound, bone density and mammography. The hospital also offers infusion, respiratory therapy and cardiopulmonary services as well as laboratory services, inpatient and outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. Away from work, you'll find that our location at the foot of the scenic Sierra Nevada Mountains offers an unlimited variety of recreational activities, including fishing, camping, golfing, hiking and skiing.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers' orders. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures for one Ultrasound certification.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  • 1. Performs all exams by following and verifying referring providers' orders. Adheres to established protocols and provides all pertinent patient information utilized by Radiologist for complete dictation. Uses independent judgement and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures for all ultrasound exams. Scanning competencies should include, at a minimum, all patient ages, acuity levels and classes, independently and without quality issues. Performs ultrasound guided procedures and works closely with radiologist or provider.
  • 2. Educates patients and families about procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates professional behavior and conduct in all interactions. Fosters teamwork, ensures efficient use of resources and advocates for quality patient outcomes.
  • 3. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Performs troubleshooting as needed and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies. Ensures imaging areas and equipment are in a constant state of 'Ready'.
  • 4. Demonstrates competence in performing prescribed invasive/interventional procedures if applicable and in accordance with established policies. Maintains proficiency and competencies signed off for all studies related to certification(s). Performs high quality imaging and in accordance with training received.
  • 5. Accountable for the ethical, legal, professional and certification responsibilities related to the practice. Maintains confidentiality of all work information.
  • 6. Assures the efficient operation of workflow in the department through patient triage and prioritization. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure uninterrupted services.
  • 7. Internal customers: All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, patients, and family members.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Requires national certification in one area of specialty from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Uncertified new hires who are Registry eligible must obtain certification within 12 months of hire and image with an experienced technologist until they become fully proficient. BLS certification required.
