Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform breast ultrasound procedures and support imaging services in our Norfolk, VA location. You will work with the operations manager, office staff, and radiology team to deliver accurate, patient-centered imaging and contribute to diagnostics.

The role requires ARDMS certification with advanced breast registry eligibility and the ability to train others; strong communication, organization, and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • ARDMS registered sonographer required.
  • Advanced Breast registry or eligible and plan to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as ARDMS Certified General Sonographer; Breast ultrasound training offered if needed.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Experience in imaging environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ultrasound equipment to produce diagnostic images.
  • Train and evaluate new and current sonographers.
  • Liaise between sonographers and radiologists.
  • Perform sonographic exams to locate and record data.
  • Record results and compare with radiologist.
  • Explain procedures to patients for clarity.
  • Present images and preliminary findings to physicians.
  • Collaborate with Mammography technologists and radiologists.
  • Review prior images and reports before exams.
  • Use PACS, RIS, and EMR systems.
  • Maintain ultrasound department supplies.

Interview:

1 round onsite/virtual with Imaging Manager

Position Summary: The Ultrasound technologist works directly with the operations manager, the office manager and any other staff assigned to the location. The Sonographer will perform clinical breast ultrasound procedures utilizing a background in anatomy, physiology, physics, and instrumentation to provide technical information to aid the radiologist in diagnosis. A sonographer must also possess certain values and abilities, including social perceptiveness, critical thinking, clear communication, active listening, and patient problem sensitivity.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Operates Ultrasound equipment to produce images of the body’s organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes.
  • Train and evaluate new and current sonographers
  • Act as a liaison between the sonographers and the radiologists
  • Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical function, pathology, and anatomical data.
  • Records test results in written form with comparisons to the radiologist.
  • Inspects and maintains ultrasound equipment as specific by the manufacturer.
  • Explains the ultrasound procedure to patients to ensure comprehensive understanding of the test.
  • Presenting images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team
  • Work closely with the Mammography technologists and Radiologist to ensure the capture of appropriate information and prior imaging.
  • Review all prior images and reports before completing an exam.
  • Utilize PACS, RIS, EMR and any other systems related to imaging.
  • Work closely with the Office manager and support staff to ensure a positive and efficient patient experience.
  • Maintains supplies necessary for the ultrasound department.

Position Requirements:
  • ARDMS registered sonographer
  • Advanced Breast registry or eligible and will obtain within 6 months from hire date.

Minimum 1 years’ experience as ARDMS Certified General Sonographer, we are willing to train on the job in Breast ultrasound

  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Previous experience working in an imaging environment highly desirable.
