Job summary

AGA, LLC in the Metro area seeks an experienced Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic sonographic examinations using ultrasonic equipment, prepare images for radiologist interpretation, and ensure quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate has AMA approved ultrasonography training, ARDMS registration, 2–5 years of abdominal imaging experience, and BLS CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Must have undergone advanced training to become an ultrasound technologist.
  • Graduate of AMA approved ultrasonography program and ARDMS registered.
  • BLS certification in CPR; must be computer literate and able to operate scheduling software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations using ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record data.
  • Prepare images for interpretation by radiologist; document patient assessment and history.
  • Enter patient information and charges onto scheduling forms; maintain logs and reports of work performed.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment in good operating order; follow HIPAA and clinical protocols.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data.REPORTS TO: Infusion ManagerRESPONSIBILIITESDuties include but are not limited to:Prepares and positions patient for ultrasound imaging proceduresAssist in lifting and transport of patientsScreen patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examDocuments patient assessment and historyExplain procedures to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperationPerforms ultrasound examinationsOperates computer and ultrasound equipment for image production and documentationPrepare images for interpretation by radiologistPractices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivityPerforms quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal imagesEnters and properly completes all patient information including exam charges onto Data Cap Forms.Prepares images for interpretation by the radiologist in an accurate and timely mannerExhibits flexibility and adaptability to unique needs of the department and responds appropriatelyCommunicate abnormal situations to proper sources in a way that facilitates resolution and/or trackingActively engages other health care providers (radiologist, physicians, and medical assistants to ensure quality, continuity and appropriateness of careFollows department policies and proceduresEnsures strict compliance with all clinical protocolsPractice universal precautions to minimize risks to patient and staffMaintain the ultrasound equipment in good operating orderEnsures compliance with AGAs Mobile U/S Equipment Storage and Security PolicyApplies the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practiceCompletes forms and maintains records such as logs, and reports of work performed, as directedParticipates in accreditation process as it applies to the departmentEnsures compliance with all GA state regulatory requirements as well as ACR accreditation regulatory requirements, as appropriateAssists in managing ultrasound patient scheduleAccurately provides or counsels patients and/or relatives with pertinent information regarding ultrasound/imagingHas a strong knowledge and understanding of different insurance plansMeets or exceeds quality and productivity standards as set by the Imaging/Infusion ManagerAnswers emails and voicemails and returns patient calls in a timely and efficient manner as appropriateCompletes requests for information from other AGA, LLC staff and ensures that they are handled promptly and effectively to guarantee payment on patient accountsAbides by and promotes HIPAA compliance; maintains strictest confidentiality with regards to patient informationParticipates in staff meetings as directed by the Imaging/Infusion ManagerParticipates in marketing activities as directed by the Imaging/Infusion ManagerAny other duties and/or special projects as assignedREQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEMust have undergone advanced training to become an ultrasound technologist. Must be a graduate of AMA approved ultrasonography program and be registered with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience in abdominal sonography and abdominal Doppler sonography. BLS certification in CPR. Must be computer literate and able to operate both eMDs scheduling software and multiple Microsoft Office applications.ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEUltrasound Technologist must be able to:Possesses the ability to deal with patients, visitors, co-workers, and physicians with courtesy and respectDisplays a professional outgoing warm and helpful attitudePossesses compassion for dealing with people who are ill and need helpPlan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks as delegated by the Imaging/Infusion ManagerWork under pressure; assess, respond, and communicate issues in a timely mannerCommunicate clearly with patients and coworkers through the telephone, email, and in-personInterpret and apply clinical and non-clinical policies and proceduresPHYSICAL/MENTAL/ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDSRequires sitting and standing associated with a normal imaging/ultrasound scanning environment; travel within the Metro area is required.
