Animas Surgical Hospital seeks a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to independently operate ultrasound equipment and communicate results to the radiologist. The role oversees daily ultrasound lab operations and collaborates with the radiology team to ensure efficient scheduling and accurate billing.
Requirements include ARDMS registration in physics, abdomen, OB/Gyn and vascular, a CAHEAP-accredited program graduate, BLS/CPR certification, and at least two years of hospital or clinical experience.
A diagnostic medical sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography to the radiologist. The Sonographer is responsible for daily operations of the ultrasound laboratory.
Reports to: Manager, Diagnostic Imaging
Hourly range: $34.02 - $57.98 (posted hourly range excludes overtime and bonuses which are not guaranteed)
Education: Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program.
Experience: Two years’ experience in hospital/clinical setting.
The sonographer must be physically capable of carrying out all assigned duties. Emotional and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position. Strength sufficient to lift some patients, move a 410 lb. ultrasound machine on wheels, move patients on gurneys and in wheelchairs, assist patients with moving and maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for ultrasound scanning. Stooping, kneeling, and or crouching daily in delivery of patient care, obtaining equipment/supplies. Running occasionally in responding to patient care emergencies.
Environmental hazards such as chemicals, solvents, needles, needle containers, sharps, blood, body fluids, various infectious/communicable diseases, infectious medical wastes, radiation, and/or radioactive materials and/or radioactive waste, proximity to moving mechanical parts. Protective clothing/equipment may be necessary.
