Job summary

Stephens Memorial Hospital is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to join our diagnostic imaging team. You will perform ultrasound examinations, ensure patient comfort, and maintain accurate imaging records under physician guidance.

The ideal candidate has an accredited program in sonography, RDMS or equivalent credential, state licensure if required, and strong knowledge of anatomy. Prior experience with EMR systems and varied ultrasound modalities is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography or ultrasound technology program.
  • Current RDMS or equivalent credential.
  • Valid state licensure to practice as an ultrasound technologist, if required by the state of employment.
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to ultrasound imaging.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate ultrasound equipment and perform a variety of ultrasound procedures safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures on patients as ordered by physicians, ensuring high-quality imaging and accurate data collection.
  • Prepare and position patients appropriately for ultrasound examinations, explaining procedures to alleviate patient concerns and ensure cooperation.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, including routine calibration and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to review images and provide preliminary observations when appropriate.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate patient records, documenting procedures, findings, and any relevant patient information in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control standards to protect patients and staff during imaging procedures.
  • Stay current with advances in ultrasound technology and best practices through continuing education and professional development.

Stephens Memorial Hospital has a job opening for a PRN Ultrasound Technologist.

Position Summary:

The Ultrasound Technologist plays a critical role in the diagnostic imaging team by performing ultrasound examinations that assist physicians in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. This position requires the technologist to operate sophisticated ultrasound equipment to capture high-quality images of patients’ internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. The technologist must ensure patient comfort and safety while accurately following physician instructions and protocols. They are responsible for preparing patients for procedures, explaining the process, and maintaining detailed records of imaging results. Ultimately, the Ultrasound Technologist contributes to patient care by providing essential diagnostic information that supports effective medical decision-making.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography or ultrasound technology program.
  • Current certification as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent credential.
  • Valid state licensure to practice as an ultrasound technologist, if required by the state of employment.
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to ultrasound imaging.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate ultrasound equipment and perform a variety of ultrasound procedures safely and effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with specialized ultrasound modalities such as vascular, obstetric, abdominal, or cardiac sonography.
  • Additional certifications in specialty areas (e.g., Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)).
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and imaging software.
  • Previous experience working in a hospital, outpatient clinic, or diagnostic imaging center.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with experience in patient care and communication.
  • Current BLS Certification.
