Job summary

Akumin Inc. in Orlando and Mount Dora is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and produce high-quality images for interpretation.

As a float across sites, you will respond to coverage needs, maintain equipment and adhere to HIPAA, ARRT or ARDMS credentials, and ensure patient care and safety. This part-time, per-diem role requires flexibility, strong communication, and commitment to accurate imaging and timely reporting.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Ultrasound or equivalent preferred.
  • ARRT(S) or ARDMS certification required.
  • Valid state driver's license and CPR/BLS (ACLS where applicable).

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and obtain high-quality images.
  • Communicate results summaries to physicians and health professionals.
  • Maintain equipment, sterile technique, and proper probe cleansing.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with EMR, PACS and DICOM systems.
  • Provide orientation to new technologists and participate in continuing education.

We are currently hiring for a**Ultrasound Tech**at our **Orlando & Mt. Dora** facility. This will be **a PRN** position.**This role will be floating between between the two sites as needed.**As a **PRN Ultrasound Technologist**, you are responsible for performing diagnostic images for medical interpretation through use of multi-frequency sound waves. They will identify normal and abnormal imaging results, communicating a summary of the results to physicians or other health professionals. This position is held accountable for performing the correct US exams and producing high quality diagnostic images, while maintaining proficiency and complying with company policies and procedures. The US technologist will independently perform or assist a licensed practitioner in the completion of diagnostic exams (and invasive procedures if applicable). The role will require flexibility with availability as a per-diem technologist, responding promptly to requests for coverage due to absences or vacations, and covering at minimum one shift in a 30 day period. **Specific duties include, but are not limited to:*** Administer high frequency sound waves to a patient to obtain diagnostic exams as ordered by the physician and - consistent with all applicable legal requirements and restrictions- exercise individual thought, judgment and discretion in the performance of the procedure within their scope of practice as defined by the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography, American Society Radiologic Technologists, and Cardiac Credentialing International (CCI).* Knowledge and ability to demonstrate competency of differing US equipment as well as aseptic and sterile technique and requirements for probe cleansing prior to patient use. Maintain levels of quality that meet or exceed customer expectations through process improvement and a team-oriented approach. Demonstrate proficiency of EMR systems, as well as PACS and DICOM systems for image sharing and interpretation.* Demonstrates the ability to use all channels of communications to address concerns, solve problems, and address conflict.* Maintain confidentiality in matters relating to patients, family and staff in compliance with HIPAA. Effectively communicates with patients and/or radiologists.* Train and orient new technologists, patient coordinators as needed. Complete annual and on-going education and site specific competencies/in-services as designated by leadership.* Other duties as assigned by leadership.**Position Requirements:*** High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associate's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.* Minimum certification through one of the following credentialing bodies is required: ARRT (S) ARDMS* Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.* CPR Certification, BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
