Job description

  • Serves as a patient advocate to ensure that patients and customers needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensures timely scheduling of both inpatients and out patients.
  • Provides education to all patients before, during and after exams.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with all customers i.e. patients, other departments, physicians and fellow associates .
  • Reviews patient satisfaction data and participates in improving areas of concern.
  • Utilizes appropriate resources to resolve patient issues.
  • Addresses and resolves customer complaints.
  • Ensures on-time completion of your performance pathway
  • Sends out co-worker feedback forms 6 months before review to associates you and your leader have identified as able to provide valuable feedback.

  • Accountable for the production of quality sonograms .
  • Demonstrates the appropriate operation of all sonography equipment including transducers, doppler energy package, laser printers, telaradiography etc.
  • Demonstrates safety in all areas, electrical and environmental.
  • Ensures all appropriate information is present before sonograms are performed, including verification of physician orders.
  • Completes all data entries in the radiology and hospital system.
  • Participates in efforts to monitor and improve departmental CQI indicators.
  • Submits ideas for improving quality in your department.

Education/Experience Required: ARDMS Registered

1-2 years experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Graduate of an approved School of sonography or on the job training with

1-2 years experience as a staff sonographer.

ARDMS Registered

CPR certified

  • This position needs to recognize the needs and behaviors of a variety of age groups; prior experience with various age groups preferred.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions

May be exposed to life threatening diseases.

Ability to adjust hours with minimal notice as required.

Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Ability to view small crt screens.

Ability to work odd hours.

Ability to respond to emergency call.

Ability to lift and/or move patients.

Ability to work under stressful conditions

Ability to work rotating shifts any day of the week.

Ability to stand, bend and /or stoop for extended periods of time.

If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015.

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
