Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and assist radiologists across general ultrasound areas including abdomen, OB/GYN, breast, and vascular exams. Requires ARDMS eligibility and BLS; weekend/on-call coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved ultrasound program; must meet ARDMS requirements to apply for abdomen or OB/GYN registry.
• One year full-time ultrasound clinical experience or completion of a formal two-year program or equivalent in another allied health profession; or one year ultrasound with a bachelor’s degree unrelated to ultrasound technology.
• BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Performs Diagnostic Ultrasound Scans as ordered by physicians.
• Assist radiologist/clinicians during imaging and interventional procedures.
• Competent in all areas of general diagnostic ultrasound tests including small parts, breast, abdominal, OB/GYN, high risk OB, pediatric abdomen and hips; cover off-hour shifts.
• Willing to assist and perform vascular exams when needed.
• Aids in inventory, procuring, storing and maintaining equipment.
• Responsible for patient well-being and comfort in the ultrasound department.
• Assists in scheduling, arranging transportation and workflow of patients.
• Aids in administrative functions including answering phones, coordinating with other departments, preparing reports.
• Rotates weekend, on-call and holidays with fellow sonographers.
• Maintains cleanliness and neatness of the ultrasound department.
• Participates in planning routine maintenance and safety of equipment.
• Participates in training of co-workers and students.
• Prepares and maintains accurate records including computer entries.
• Meets performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and development.
• Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth operation.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduate Of An Approved Ultrasound Program. Must Meet Requirements Of Ardms To Apply For The Abdomen Or Ob/Gyn Registry Exam. Must Have A Working Knowledge Of Pertinent Equipment, Scanning Techniques, Patient Care, And Evaluating Patient Status And Emergency Situations.

EXPERIENCE

Documented One Year Fulltime Ultrasound Clinical Experience; Or Completion Of A Formal Two Year Program Or Equivalent In Another Allied Health Profession; Or One Year Ultrasound Clinical Experience With Bachelor'S Degree Unrelated To Ultrasound Technology .

LICENSURE

BLS required.
