Job summary

Tenet Healthcare is seeking an Imaging Student Extern to support ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a registered Ultrasound Technologist at a Tenet facility in West Palm Beach, FL. The role includes assisting with exams, patient positioning, and maintaining department protocols.

You must be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited Diagnostic Sonography program, with BLS/CPR certification. Computer skills are preferred for charting and record-keeping in a fast-paced imaging

Qualifications

• Must be a full-time student in good standing in an accredited school of Diagnostic Sonography.
• Preferred: Computer skills.
• Certification: BLS/CPR (American Heart Association) required.

Responsibilities

• Assist technologist with ultrasound exams and position patients according to department procedures.
• Prepare documentation of patient history and care in radiology records.
• Ensure equipment readiness and maintain clean, stocked work areas.
• Follow safety and departmental policies; support department operations in a high-pressure setting.

Under the direct supervision of a registered Ultrasound Technologist, the Imaging Student Extern will perform a variety of tasks and procedures related to imaging and the imaging process in which they learned in class and practiced in the school setting. These tasks have also been practiced with demonstrated competency during clinical rotations at a Tenet facility.

Assists technologist with imaging procedures and may position patient for Ultrasound exams according to department protocols/procedures and transport patients, as necessary.

Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, and environmental standards. Works well with all Ultrasound Technologist/Sonographers to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Prepares written documentation as required by department and hospital policies to record history of patient's illness or injury in their course of care in radiology.

Ensures equipment functions, orderliness, and cleanliness of work areas.

Checks availability of supplies and accessories necessary to perform exams.

Demonstrates an ability to be flexible, organized and functions well in stressful situations. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested which are within capabilities with reasonable accommodations.

Education

• Required: Full-time student in good standing in an accredited school of Diagnostic Sonography.

Experience
