Job summary

Bridge Neurotech, Inc. is seeking an Ultrasound Imaging Scientist to own imaging sequences at the heart of our fUSI platform.

You will design, optimize, and validate functional ultrasound sequences for our probes and custom hardware, feeding the research study and real-time decoding pipelines. In the near term, you will push transcranial fUSI performance on off-the-shelf research probes, developing and tuning sequences for imaging through implants, and defining what constitutes good acquisition

Qualifications

  • PhD (or equivalent) in ultrasound imaging, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on ultrafast ultrasound experience: beamforming, plane-wave imaging, and image reconstruction.
  • Strong command of imaging signal-processing: IQ demodulation, clutter/SVD filtering, Doppler and power-Doppler methods, autocorrelation.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB and/or Python and working with probe hardware and research acquisition platforms.
  • Comfort operating in a small, fast-moving team on hard, open-ended problems.
  • Direct experience with functional ultrasound imaging (fUSI) or transcranial ultrasound.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize fUSI imaging sequences (plane-wave, compounded plane-wave, focused) and reconstruction pipelines.
  • Push the limits of the current research platform by bringing up sequences on Butterfly research probes and defining baselines.
  • Define imaging requirements for custom hardware in partnership with embedded and hardware teams.
  • Own imaging protocols for our research study: design acquisition procedures and analyze imaging data.
  • Partner with the decoding team on data quality, throughput, and latency to meet neural decoders’ needs.
  • Build analysis and validation tooling to evaluate sequence performance as the platform evolves.

Job description

About Bridge Neurotech

Bridge Neurotech is building a non-invasive functional ultrasound imaging (fUSI) platform with AI-based neural decoding for brain-computer interface applications. We are a seed-stage neurotechnology company developing technology that has the potential to transform how we interact with the human brain.

About the role

We are looking for an Ultrasound Imaging Scientist to own the imaging sequences at the heart of Bridge’s platform: designing, optimizing, and validating the functional ultrasound sequences that run on our probes today and on the custom hardware we are building. This is a hands-on research and development role: the sequences you develop feed directly into our research study, our real-time pipeline, and the neural decoders trained on the data they produce.

In the near term, you will push transcranial fUSI performance on off-the-shelf research probes, developing and tuning sequences for imaging through sonolucent cranioplasty implants. Working with the Butterfly Network research platform we use today, you will define what "good" acquisition looks like and drive the imaging protocols for our first human research study.

What you’ll do
  • Develop and optimize fUSI imaging sequences (plane-wave, compounded plane-wave, focused) and reconstruction pipelines, with a focus on transcranial performance.

  • Push the limits of the current research platform: bring up and characterize sequences on Butterfly research probes, defining acquisition-correctness baselines the rest of the team can build against.

  • Define imaging requirements for custom hardware in partnership with the embedded and hardware teams, so the Bridge front-end is designed around the sequences and bandwidth our decoding pipeline needs.

  • Own the imaging protocols for our research study: design acquisition procedures, support data collection from research participants, and analyze the resulting imaging data.

  • Partner with the decoding team on data quality, throughput, and latency, ensuring the imaging pipeline delivers what the neural decoders require.

  • Build the analysis and validation tooling to evaluate sequence performance quantitatively as the platform and hardware evolve.

Who you are

Required

  • PhD (or equivalent experience) in ultrasound imaging, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.

  • Deep, hands-on experience with ultrafast ultrasound: beamforming, plane-wave imaging, and image reconstruction.

  • Strong command of the imaging signal-processing stack: IQ demodulation, clutter/SVD filtering, Doppler and power-Doppler methods, autocorrelation.

  • Proficiency developing research-grade imaging code (e.g., MATLAB and/or Python) and working directly with probe hardware and research acquisition platforms.

  • Comfort operating in a small, fast-moving team on hard, open-ended problems with no established playbook.

  • Direct experience with functional ultrasound imaging (fUSI) or transcranial ultrasound.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with open-source beamforming frameworks such as the Mach beamformer (github.com/Forest-Neurotech/mach).

  • Experience designing or running human imaging studies.

  • Exposure to GPU-accelerated beamforming or real-time imaging pipelines.

What we offer
  • The opportunity to shape a role and a team from the earliest stages.

  • Direct collaboration with leading clinicians and neuroscientists at top-tier academic institutions.

  • Excellent medical benefits and a 6% match 401(k).

Bridge Neurotech is an equal opportunity employer. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds to apply.
