Job summary

Rochester Regional Health seeks an Ultrasonographer Tech in the Canton Potsdam Hospital Imaging Services department. This part-time role covers day shifts on weekdays with 8-hour variable shifts and an occasional on-call requirement at 50 Leroy Street, Potsdam, NY 13676.

The position performs high-quality ultrasound imaging, assists in interventional procedures, and coordinates the daily ultrasound schedule while maintaining equipment and following infection control standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program or a related allied health program with ultrasound experience.
  • Registry with ARDMS, CCI or ARRT; if not registered at hire, must obtain within 12 months.
  • Current incumbents must obtain certification through ARDMS, CCI or ARRT by 10/1/2026.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in performing Ultrasound examinations.
  • Maintain departmental equipment per OEM guidelines and report issues.
  • Follow infection control and universal precautions.
  • Assist in interventional procedures with RN and physician.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement and CE requirements.

Job Title: Ultrasonographer Tech

Status: Part Time

Department: Imaging Services

Location: Canton Potsdam Hospital - 50 Leroy Street Potsdam, NY 13676

Schedule: Days, M-F, 8hr variable shifts, on call requirement

SUMMARY:

Performs high quality Ultrasound imaging. Assists in the daily routines of the ultrasound department. Assists the RN and physician in the performance of interventional procedures. Responsible for the coordination and ongoing evaluation of the daily schedule in fitting in add on exams. Comply with the professional and ethical standards of the American Association of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide direct patient care in performing Ultrasound examinations.
  • Maintains departmental equipment by following OEM guidelines, reporting equipment failure or concerns to departmental Manager and Biomed.
  • Follows P & P for infection control, universal precautions and isolation procedures when required.
  • Reports any issues to departmental Manager.
  • Universal criteria: Participates in departmental performance improvement.
  • Completes all required annual training and competencies.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for personal professional development by participating in CE requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program OR Graduate of a two-year allied health education program that is patientcare related, such as radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist or registered nurse with 1 year completion of documented ultrasound clinical experience/employment OR Graduate of a non-CAAHEP accredited ultrasound program with 1 year fulltime documented ultrasound experience.
  • Registry with ARDMS, CCI or ARRT, if not registered at time of hire must obtain within 12 months of hire date.
  • Current incumbents to obtain certification through ARDMS, CCI or ARRT by 10/1/2026.

  • Registered Sonographer with ARDMS, CCI or ARRT

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20-50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

PAY RANGE:

$38.20 - $56.28

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
