Job summary

FMOL Health is seeking an Ultrasonographer to perform diagnostic sonographic examinations, evaluate data, and record findings for referring physicians.

You will maintain and calibrate equipment, document test results, and ensure patient records are accurate and up to date. The role emphasizes patient safety, compassionate care, and collaboration within the radiology team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Post High School Vocational/Specialized Training, and Completion of an Ultrasound program.
  • Licensure: ARRT Registered Technologist (R.T) PLUS (Sonography (S)), (Vascular Sonography (VS)) OR ARDMS within 1 year (1 credential).
  • Certification: AHA BLS Card.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations using ultrasonic equipment in various modes to locate and record data.
  • Maintains and calibrates equipment and records test results for patient records and referring physicians.
  • Schedules examinations in coordination with other areas to ensure efficient sequencing and coverage.
  • Performs high quality ultrasound examinations with prudent, efficient technique; maintains records and generates accurate reports.
  • Prepares patient for examination by explaining procedure, obtaining history and consent, and positioning patient.
  • Verifies and ensures quality of examinations and assists in maintaining QA standards and study integrity.
  • Performs duties of Radiology Transporter as needed and participates in staff education and training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Performs diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment in various modes and techniques, to locate, evaluate, and record pertinent anatomical, pathological, and functional data. The Ultrasonographer maintains and calibrates equipment, records tests results, and updates patient records for referring physicians.

Responsibilities
  • Clinical Skills
    • Makes adjustments to equipment in order to ensure proper technique, maintains supplies needed for specific radiographic procedures, and develops film by automatic processing in a timely and cost‑conscious manner.
  • Schedules examinations in coordination with other operating areas to ensure proper and efficient examination sequencing and maintains responsibility for coverage and call‑back services in area of responsibility.
  • Patient Safety and Quality
    • Performs high quality ultrasound examinations in a prudent and efficient manner, maintains examination records, and generates accurate reports for administration and other operating areas as needed.
    • Prepares patient for examination by explaining procedure, providing instruction, obtaining clinical history and consent.
    • Provides compassionate and dignified patient care by assisting in patient transfer to examination area and positioning on table, and by providing care to the patient following procedure completion.
    • Verifies and ensures the quality of all patient examinations upon procedure completion and assists Radiology in maintaining quality assurance standards and the integrity of studies performed within the department.
    • Ensures that work areas and examination rooms are adequately stocked with equipment and supplies and are properly cleaned and disinfected such that a safe and reliable atmosphere for quality patient care may be provided.
    • Quality assurance: verifies all work performed on the radiology computer system in an effort toward ensuring that patients are transported to and from the department in a timely and courteous manner and that procedures are performed as indicated.
    • Observes and adheres to federal and state radiation safety guidelines and departmental and hospital policies and procedures pertinent to area of responsibility.
  • Collaboration and Partnership
    • Performs the duties of a Radiology Transporter as needed to meet the needs of the patient and department.
    • Participates in educational programs, in‑service meetings, and training sessions in an effort to share expertise with others and further the quality of education and personal growth provided to new personnel, volunteers, and interning students.
    • Contributes to student education and supervision and maintains knowledge of competency‑based clinical education plans in an effort toward supporting continuing education efforts.
  • Other Duties As Assigned: Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
