Job summary

Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester, VA is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform diverse ultrasound exams, educate patients, and manage the lab operations. The role requires RDMS/ARRT or equivalent certification and the ability to maintain quality control and regulatory compliance.

You will operate imaging equipment, produce diagnostic-quality images, present findings to physicians, and support scheduling and inventory to ensure uninterrupted service.

Qualifications

  • RDMS or ARDMS/ARRT certification at hire is required or RCS/CC I as applicable.
  • Experience performing a broad range of ultrasound exams and QA.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general, breast, OB/GYN and other ultrasound exams per protocol.
  • Educate patients about procedures and obtain relevant clinical information.
  • Maintain equipment, QC, and sterile rooms; report failures promptly.
  • Manage patient scheduling and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Gloucester, VirginiaHiring Range$36.50 - $50.23/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.OverviewThe Ultrasound Technologist in the acute care setting will perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, such as general ultrasound, breast, OB/GYN, and other ultrasound exams on incoming patients. The Ultrasound Technologist responds to patient questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and processes, while maintaining appropriate confidentiality regarding personal health information. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for daily operations of the ultrasound lab, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The Ultrasound Technologist always maintains a high standard of medical ethics and is self-motivated to pursue lifelong learning to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.What you will doUses imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis. Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures. Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.Educates patients/families regarding the procedure to be performed. Explains the procedure and independently performs ultrasound exams on patients following established protocols.Evaluates images for quality. Interprets what image is captured. Presents images and preliminary findings to the physician.Maintains the ultrasound equipment and sterilizes the room. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Troubleshoots and ensures equipment functionality.Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards. Follows RHS policies and procedures.
